Top 5 questions

1. How does a sunpipe / light tube work?
It captures daylight from your rooftop, pipes it down a highly reflective tube, then delivers it into the room below - simple but brilliant! There are no running costs and the system is maintenance free. Lightway is now the most efficient and cost effective daylight system of its kind.

2. Why is it more efficient than any other 'similar' system?
The lightway Dome is crystal glass which has a greater impact resistance and does not discolour or cloud, which all polycarbonate domes are prone to do.  This means that long term it will continue to produce the same level of light.
The system also has an electro plated Tube (chemical vapour deposition in a vacuum system) which gives a smoother surface and higher reflectivity, thus increasing the amount of light transmitted. This also has the benefit of eliminating the peeling problem that can occur with some systems. For this reason Lightway will guarantee their tube for 25 years instead of the more common 10 year guarantee.

3. What size do I need?
The Lightway daylight system is ideal for domestic use; the L300 is a 230mm diameter system that will light up to 10sqm, the L400 is a 320mm diameter system that will light up to 15sqm , both are designed to fit between standard roof joists for easy installation. The L300 is ideal for bathrooms (it can be fitted with an integral bathroom ventilation kit), hallways, small stairways or landings. The L400 is suited to living areas or larger stairwells and landings. For more expansive areas or long narrow hallways or corridors, it can be used in multiples. The lightway 600/800 Series offers systems with a 530mm and 750mm diameter - generally these are used for commercial and industrial applications, but are sometimes used in the home.
We also offer the L200 which is a smaller system for small rooms, but also for applications where access is limited or restricted. This is often used in multiples to give a good light effect in limited access rooms.

4. Do I need planning permission to install?
It is generally unnecessary to obtain planning permission to install. In Conservation areas or for listed buildings, however, you should seek prior approval from your local Planning Office. Roof domes are discreet and unobtrusive, and are often preferred by Planning Officers over conventional windows or rooflights. However, for listed buildings or where the roofline must be maintained, we suggest you look at the Cast Lightpipe supplied by Clement Window Group. With its traditional appearance, the Cast Lightpipe can be used on all types of roof and is recommended for use on historic buildings by Conservation Officers, Architects, English Heritage & The National Trust.
We are also able to offer a bespoke manufacturing service to meet specific needs and requirements if necessary. This allows a far greater range of options.

5. Do you issue a installation and product guarantee?
Yes we do, following installation by one of our fully trained operatives. We offer a 5 year installation guarantee.
The product guarantee is alo issued on job completion.
